About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Benefits Officer to lead the strategic management of its Benefits and Member Services Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of benefit services and payments to over 340,000 members, including active, inactive, and retired members. This role involves high-level management of retirement and disability benefit programs, overseeing customer service operations, and maintaining compliance with fiduciary standards and legal regulations. The Chief Benefits Officer will also be involved in the System's senior management, interacting with the Board of Trustees, and participating in a 5-year modernization project. Applicants for the Chief Benefits Officer position at the company should have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years' of experience in managing customer service activities related to public retirement or benefits administration. Professional certifications such as CEBS or CAPPP are highly preferred. The role requires a candidate with a high level of ethics, integrity, and a strong work ethic. The Chief Benefits Officer will be expected to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage a team, and a proven track record in strategic planning and decision-making. Responsibilities also include budget monitoring, fraud detection, and testifying on benefit issues.
