The Herbalist delivers superior customer service for all of our patients and visitors in a welcoming environment. The Herbalist key job function is to manage and maintain the Herb Room to required specifications. They are responsible for supporting the Herb Room Manager and maintaining the herb room and products; as well as fulfilling orders for patients accurately and timely.

The overall goal is to provide our patients with a patient-centered experience within a health care center of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Herbalist works closely with their Manager as well as the Doctors and front desk staff. The job is primarily in Santa Monica, however may occasionally need to work in our Pasadena location.

Responsibilities and Duties (Herbalist)

This position requires candidates to be bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday.

• Responsible for the processing herb orders for patients and handling patient queries regarding their herbs, including processing ingredient list, computing dosage and pricing on patient’s charts.

• Ensure that all operational policies and procedures are followed within the herb room to ensure the highest level of service to patients.

• Monitor the quality of herbs and the double checking system to ensure accuracy of all herb orders.

• Handle and resolve complaints and matters relating to patient herb orders.
• Maintain record-keeping and documentation for all pick-ups and shipments.
• Required to carry up to 40-50 pound boxes.
• Facilitate teamwork and communication among staff and practitioners.
• Participate in setting goals with manager on a regular basis.
• Arrive to work on time and ready to work independently and accurately.
• Flexible schedule required.
• Help maintain the herb room; keep storage areas organized, clean and stocked up.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum Education: High School diploma required; some college or college degree, preferred.
• Minimum Experience: One to two (1-2) years of medical office experience and/or customer service experience.
• Customer service- internal and external

• Able to work well under pressure and multi-task.
• Problem solving capabilities

• Professional demeanor and appearance
• Ability to work equally well in a team environment and independently

• Flexible and willing to assist with duties when and where needed.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance, preferred.
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook) with the ability to learn programs as needed
• Physical Requirements: running, lifting, bending, reaching, sitting, standing and kneeling.

Pay: $21.00 per hour
