Christ Church United Methodist is currently in need of a Part-time Digital Content Creator and Storyteller for our Communications Department (24-30 hours per week). The ideal candidate has experience in generating compelling and engaging content for various digital platforms, including websites, social media, and digital publications. This person must be a self-starter and a team player. They must have strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create content for target audiences, as well as a keen eye for design. This person will work closely with other staff and with church members to create needed content for all publications, making interpersonal skills a must.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Understanding of story fundamentals (effective character, trajectory, hook, authenticity/details and calls to action)
• Stellar writing skills
• Interviewing skills – how to ask effective questions and develop rapport/trust with story subjects
• Story boarding experience; understanding the effectiveness and appropriateness of story assets (text, images, audio, video) and how to combine them
• Visual, audio and video content creation experience
• Expertise with online platforms: content management systems for web and social media
• Experience crafting editorial calendars and repurposing stories across platforms
• Must demonstrate integrity and respect for the church, the staff and the church members

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in public relations, writing, communications, marketing or similar.
• 1-3 years of experience in a similar position
• Intermediate level or higher knowledge in audio-visual equipment (DSLR camera, video, audio recorder, microphones) operations
• Comfort and experience using editing software (image, audio, video, post-production)
• Experience using web analytics and social media monitoring/measurement tools
• Experience in creating a strategic communications plan and in designing specific content strategies to meet objectives
