Quaise is seeking a self-driven, energetic, and experienced Electrical or Electronics Engineer to join our team in unlocking the world’s most abundant source of clean energy. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology development for geothermal applications. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment—translating high-level objectives into actionable requirements, designing and integrating electrical systems, and collaborating across engineering disciplines. Responsibilities include researching and developing circuits, sourcing components, implementing solutions, conducting design-of-experiments, analyzing results, and iterating based on lessons learned.

- Contribute to the development, testing, and integration of subassemblies and subsystems for MMW drilling systems, ranging from single boards on a bench top to large integrated systems spanning multiple 40-ft-long cargo containers.
- Establish and maintain communications with technology suppliers, such as high voltage power supplies, power instrumentation, electronic protection circuits, high speed optical transmitters etc., to assist in the development of electrical systems.
- Operate, maintain, and assist in the redesign of power systems for field operations, laboratory systems, and company critical infrastructure.
- Participate in lab experiments, design test plans and procedures, conduct tests, and document results in detailed technical reports.
- Collaborate with engineers and assist in the design and development of custom electronic circuits, including analog, digital, optical and mixed signal systems, with signal conditioning, filtering, control logic, and digital signal processing.
- Utilize software tools to design circuits, create schematics, design PCB layouts, and run simulations.
- Fabricate and test working prototypes by wiring, soldering, and assembling electrical components, and develop packaging for finished designs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Ability to learn and work safely with high-voltage, high-current, and high-power RF systems.
- Experience in specification, design, and development of electrical systems and subsystems.
- Proficient in diagnostic tools such as multimeters, spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- Experience in specifying, assembling, and testing high-power, high voltage components such as capacitors, diodes, resistors, SCRs, IGBTs, etc.
- Understanding of high voltage power supply concepts such as rectification, switching and HV modulation.
- Experience in designing experiments, obtaining results, and writing detailed reports.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
- Experience in board-level and system-level wiring and soldering.
- Proficient in data acquisition and data logging techniques.
Additional related fields:
- Experience in developing electronics for harsh environments such as high temperature, high shock/vibration, etc.
- Familiarity with design standards (military or other) and UL/HSE safety standards.
- Power system design and operations.
- Experience in EMI and EMC testing for high-frequency and high-power RF systems.
- Analog circuit design (power supplies, amplifiers, signal conditioning, filters, transistor and op-amp circuits).
- Digital circuit design (logic circuits, communications protocols such as CAN, UART, I2C, LVDS etc.)
- Embedded systems development (MCU, DSP, FPGA, etc.)
- Control system design (Simulink, PLC, etc.)
- Proficient in CAD and modelling software (HFSS, MATLAB, ORCAD, PSPICE, etc.)
- Microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs. Development, programming, and deployment of embedded systems.
- Experience with programming languages (Python, MATLAB, LabView, VHDL, C).
- Knowledge of switchboard specification, LV and MV distribution, switchgear, panels.
- HV modulation protection circuits, high voltage/power sensors and interfaces, high isolation designs, opto-sensors, optical communication devices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
- Commitment to delivering quality results with a meticulous and conscientious approach to their responsibilities. This includes accountability for the outcomes of their tasks and showing dedication to continuous improvement and excellence in their role.
- Ability to interact well with customers and co-workers, in the field and the office.

Supervisory responsibilities
- May supervise the work of technicians or contractors to ensure work is completed in accordance with project requirements.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a position of engineering.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design principles and circuit analysis.
Physical requirements
- The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, as well as use hands to feel, reach, grasp, handle, or operate objects, tools and/or controls.
- The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, transfer, or move items up 50 pounds at times for departmental needs.
- Ability to move from one worksite to another or travel to various job sites and locations to complete tasks.
- The vision requirement includes reviewing written and electronic materials in digital and physical format.
- The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed considering the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
