Southside Blooms is looking to add a Freelance Event Florist to its team. Based in the southside of Chicago, Southside Blooms is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is a farm-to-vase florist providing unique and fashion-forward arrangements while maintaining an uncompromising dedication to the environment and its surrounding communities. Role As a Freelance Event Florist at Southside Blooms, you will be responsible for designing, creating, and arranging floral decorations for various events, including weddings, corporate gatherings, parties, and other special occasions. This includes transportation of products to/from events. This role offers flexibility, making it ideal for creative professionals seeking project-based work. Your Core Contributions To The Team Design and create custom floral arrangements, including bouquets, centerpieces, and other decorative elements. Ensure all floral arrangements are fresh, visually appealing, and meet high-quality standards. Set up and dismantle floral decorations at event venues, ensuring timely and efficient delivery and removal. Mentor and guide youth involved in the event, sharing floral design techniques and work ethics. Stay up to date with the latest floral design trends. About You Knowledge, abilities, and qualifications Proven experience as a florist or floral designer, preferably in an event setting, using foam free techniques. Creative and artistic ability with a keen eye for detail. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina to handle and transport floral arrangements. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required. Experience working with clients and large-scale events. Knowledge of different flower types, seasonal availability, and floral care techniques.
