Job Description

General Counsel - Cryptocurrency and Securities Law (Houston, TX - Remote)

Token Metrics is a cryptocurrency investment research platform that’s driven by machine learning and artificial intelligence. The company was founded by Ian Balina in 2017 as he traded his way from $20,000 to more than $5 million, logging all his trades in a public-facing spreadsheet that drew more than a million unique visitors per month. Ian’s Moneyball-style approach to crypto investing now forms the basis of the Token Metrics platform, which now helps thousands of customers around the world profitably play the crypto markets.

Token Metrics is seeking a General Counsel to join our team and provide expert legal guidance in the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency and blockchain space. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cryptocurrency and securities law and a passion for the digital asset industry.

  • Draft and review legal documents, including terms of service, privacy policies, and partnership agreements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance in product development and business operations
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments in the cryptocurrency and securities space, providing timely updates and recommendations to leadership
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory bodies
  • Advise on intellectual property matters related to Token Metrics' products and services
  • Assist in fundraising efforts and corporate governance matters
  • Represent Token Metrics in court proceedings and legal disputes as needed

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of securities laws and regulations, particularly as they apply to digital assets
  • Demonstrated experience advising on token offerings, cryptocurrency exchanges, and decentralized finance (DeFi) projects
  • Familiarity with international cryptocurrency regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Proven track record of successful litigation and courtroom representation

Requirements

  • Must own and actively engage with cryptocurrencies to demonstrate a deep understanding of the technology and ecosystem
  • Proven track record of staying up-to-date with the latest developments in cryptocurrency law and regulation
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment

Preferred

  • Experience working with or for a cryptocurrency or blockchain company
  • Knowledge of cryptocurrency market analysis and trading platforms
  • Familiarity with decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and related legal structures

At Token Metrics, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of the cryptocurrency industry. If you are passionate about blockchain technology and have the legal expertise to help us navigate this exciting space, we want to hear from you. Join us in shaping the future of finance and technology.
