Job Description

At Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Ministries Corporation , our financial systems are the engine that enables us to power forward. We are searching for a qualified GL Accountant to help keep our financial records accurate, timely and ensure compliance with accounting principles. The GL Accountant will join a close-knit team focused on our non-profit health care company operations at Maryville, helping us to strategize savings, perform impactful audits, furnish leadership with informative information, and grow our financial position.

This is a full time on-site position.
Experience in Healthcare industry preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare general ledger account transactions and reconciliations with analysis to ensure the company’s financial records are accurate.
  • Manage accounts payable processes and related expenses, ensuring proper coding of revenue and expenses, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Manage payroll financials processing and related programs to ensure transactions are recorded properly and compliant with agency reporting requirements.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement close.
  • Assist in the preparation of deliverables for audit requests.
  • Provide accounting perspective and assistance on business development projects.
  • Identify, implement, and/or support process improvements within the team including training other team members as needed.
  • Ad hoc accounting projects as required.
  • Manage accounting records, including record retention.
  • Prepare and analyze information to support the budgeting process.
  • Track donations, grants, and other forms of funding, ensuring they are used in accordance with donor restrictions and organizational policies.
  • Perform monthly accounting duties and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience gained through increasingly responsible positions within a Finance Department.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, Expert level Excel knowledge and experience .

  • Active listening, writing and reading comprehension.
  • Good collaboration and teamwork skills.

  • Familiarity with HRIS (Paycom).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License.
  • Desire to learn and grow professionally.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms; frequently required to stand,walk, talk, sit, and listen; occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach above shoulder height, reach below the waist, or lift as needed to file documents or store materials throughout the work day.
  • Proper lifting techniques are required.
