Job Description

Apogee Solutions, a Woman-Owned Small Business, is seeking multiple Junior Data Analysts to support the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology at the Pentagon. Qualified candidates must have a DOD SECRET clearance.

The Junior Data Analysts are responsible for providing data analytics and reporting support. DASD S&T is a part of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD R&E) and is responsible for fostering innovation and providing unparalleled technical expertise and dominance for the DOD. OUSD R&E oversees science and technology research programs, manages laboratories and research institutions, and engages with industry and academia.

The Junior Data Analyst will:

• Assist in importing, exporting, and extracting data from internal and external databases to create reports that show statistical trends of small business performance.
• Support quality control procedures to ensure reliability and integrity of data being generated.
• Establish, monitor, and report quantitative and qualitative metrics on an as-needed basis to measure Defense Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Office Programs’ success over time against set goals.
• Write narrative descriptions of lessons learned to improve the Defense SBIR / STTR Program Office and DOD SBIR and STTR Programs and their impact on the DOD capabilities.
• Aid in the generation of quarterly, annual, and non-recurring reports for the Defense SBIR / STTR Program Office’s reporting requirements to the SBA regarding information related to the DOD SBIR and STTR Programs.
• Develop briefs and talking points for use by the Defense SBIR / STTR Program, DASD S&T and OUSD R&E leadership with internal and external audiences.

Required Experience:

• Active DOD SECRET clearance
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Math, Business Administration, or another related field
• 2 years of professional experience providing data analysis and reporting support
• Working knowledge in importing, exporting, and extracting data from internal and external databases and quality control procedures to ensure reliability and integrity of data

Desired Experience:

• Master’s degree from an accredited academic institution in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Math, Business Administration, or another related field
• Prior experience supporting a DOD SBIR / STTR Program Office with data analytics and reporting
• Working knowledge of budget preparation, execution, and tracking as well as financial management, analysis, and reporting
• Experience with software engineering, social media analytics, business analysis, and other data-centered domains as well as SQL or non-SQL databases and with using web service Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
• Familiarity with translating statistical data into useful information for decision making
