Position Overview

As the Lead Dental Anesthesia Assistant (DAA) , you will play a pivotal role in our field operations. Not only will you assist anesthesia providers, but you will also coordinate the DAA team in your territory, oversee off-site supply hubs, and train new staff. You’ll be the vital link between our national supply chain team and local dental offices, ensuring everything runs smoothly!

Your Key Responsibilities

Lead, Dental Anesthesia Assistant Coordinator

  • Oversee all DAA responsibilities and ensure high standards of care.
  • Participate in the hiring process and train new DAA staff.
  • Set up and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor controlled substance inventory and assist dental offices with orders.
  • Champion MedAxion training and ensure proper setup for new dental offices.
  • Conduct emergency drills and train staff on safety protocols.
  • Coordinate annual practice meetings and competency programs.
  • Lead onboarding for new dental offices, ensuring a seamless transition.
  • Manage staff call-offs and ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Troubleshoot field issues and communicate effectively with the team.

Dental Anesthesia Assistant

  • Assist anesthesia providers with clinical care before, during, and after procedures.
  • Manage patient positioning, IV starts, and monitor vital signs.
  • Transport and set up anesthesia equipment as needed.
  • Document all activities accurately in the EMR.
  • Conduct daily controlled substance counts and adhere to AAC policies.
  • Stay with patients during recovery and ensure safe discharge.
  • Complete facility checklists and resolve follow-up items.
  • Communicate operational issues to management.
  • Perform confirmation calls to dental offices regarding patient schedules.
  • Stay updated on daily schedules and respond to communications promptly.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a dental anesthesia assistant.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • IV training/certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Dental Anesthesia Assistant Certified (DAANCE).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Understanding of clinical care processes and equipment handling.
  • Ability to comply with quality standards and state regulations.
  • Calm under pressure and self-motivated.
  • Able to lift 60 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Willing to drive up to 90 miles (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Ability to explain the anesthesia process clearly to patients and guardians.
