Salary: $115,760 - 173,640 per year Requirements:

• Proven experience in designing, engineering, and supporting large-scale Compute/Server environments and systems.
• Basic Unix server administration, scripting, along with knowledge of networking and firewall concepts.
• Working knowledge of modern DevOps and Infrastructure deployment strategies, including tools such as GitHub, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Strong familiarity with Operating Systems such as Windows and Linux is preferred.
• Experience with AWS EC2, AWS DRS, RedHat Linux, Ansible Automation, and ESX is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Highly Available infrastructure design, disaster recovery, and cyber recovery is preferred.
• Self-motivated and results-driven with the ability to collaborate in a team setting as well as work independently.
• Excellent organizational and time management capabilities to adapt to evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strategic thinking ability, assessing options and solutions by viewing the business holistically.
• Understanding of current and emerging IT products, services, processes, and methodologies.

Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain Enterprise Server Solutions that cater to The Hartford’s multi-cloud ecosystem.
• Engage in the development and technical deployment of Cyber, Disaster Recovery, and Operational Recovery capabilities to aid application teams and enterprise initiatives.
• Facilitate the migration of Compute Solutions to diverse private and public cloud offerings, supporting a substantial data center transformation initiative.
• Engineer functionalities across various platforms and products including ESX, VMware, Unix, Windows, AWS, GCP, and others.
• Participate in all aspects of service ownership including architecture, design, migration, deployment, runtime support, audit activities, and financial management.
• Design and implement automation for configuration drift and assist with governance reporting and remediation.
• Collaborate and consult with other IT teams to ensure smooth integration of the server environment while addressing new requirements, design challenges, and configuration functionalities.
• Provide operational and technical support to end users, emphasizing stability and operational excellence.

The Compute Services Team is looking for an innovative Senior Operating Systems Engineer to become part of our organization, The Hartford. Our team is accountable for comprehensive service management encompassing the engineering, deployment, operations, and governance of our server environment across a multi-cloud framework. This is a fantastic chance for anyone eager to contribute to a synergistic team focused on advancing core services through both private and public cloud capabilities.

This role will feature a hybrid work schedule, with an expectation to work in one of our offices (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT, or Charlotte, NC) three days a week (from Tuesday to Thursday).

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. Please note, we will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Regarding compensation, our listed annual base pay range is primarily determined by an analysis of similar roles in the external market. Actual base pay may vary and can be above or below this range based on various factors, including performance and demonstrated competencies required for the position. This base pay is just one aspect of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees, which may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and immediate recognition.
