Position Summary:

Provides basic patient care, under direct supervision of the RN. Provides assistance to the nursing and medical staff in their evaluation of patients and the delivery of care. Reports to the Charge Nurse, Emergency Services.

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the unit.
• Knowledge of growth and development over the life span.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.
• BLS/CPR Certification.
• EMT or C.N. A. certification with no previous ED experience.
• BLS and Non-violent crisis intervention/verbal descalation course within 3 months of hire.
• Hospital Mandatory Education Requirements: Orientation, Environment of Care, OSHA, Infection Control, Abuse/Neglect, and Ethics. Tuberculosis Screening, BLS.
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• ER TECH Certificate preferred .
• One-two years experience as Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Previous experience in a hospital Emergency Department, preferred.
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
