About Us:

Phase Sensitive Innovations is a premier provider of devices and components for microwave and millimeter-wave systems, e.g., photonic links and phased array antennas for Tx and Rx. In our product portfolio are high-speed, high-power photodiodes and lithium-niobate modulators with both having bandwidths exceeding 100 GHz. These products are fabricated domestically in PSI owned/operated cleanroom and packaging facilities. PSI leverages this strong expertise in photonic devices and components to provide unique hardware solutions for commercial and military applications. Among these technologies are optical techniques to spatially and spectrally process radio frequency signals enabling new approaches to radar, communications, and sensing.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Radar Digital Signal Processing Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing signal processing algorithms for radar systems and implementing them in FPGA firmware. You will work on advanced radar applications and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet our customers' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement firmware for radar digital signal processing algorithms.
  • Analyze and simulate radar signal processing techniques to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to optimize signal processing for real-time applications.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and testing of signal processing algorithms using simulation tools and real-world data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to signal processing and algorithm performance.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in radar technology and signal processing methodologies.
  • Document design processes, test procedures, and performance evaluations.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives to innovate and improve radar signal processing techniques.

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (> 2 yrs)) in FPGA programming, including familiarity with Xilinx RFSOC.
  • Proficiency in VHDL programming languages such as Vivado
  • Proven experience implementing digital signal processing algorithms in firmware.
  • Experience with simulation tools and software for signal processing (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink).
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink HDL synthesis tools
  • Knowledge of Embedded systems architectures (ARM, AVR) and programming within those architectures
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • US Citizen or green card holder.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of radar signal processing concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
  • Experience with advanced radar concepts (eg. multi-static concepts, SAR, and STAP)
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic theory and radar system design.
  • Use of Git for software/firmware version control
  • Current S/TS clearance.
