Greenwich Academy seeks a security officer to join the security team protecting and safeguarding the Greenwich Academy community. Primary Responsibilities The security officer works with the other three members of the security team along with Senior Administration in providing security for campus community members and maintaining security of campus buildings, ground and facilities. The Security officer's primary duties include: Providing security support during the school day Patrols the campus ensuring no threats or security threats exist Provides traffic management Be the first line of defense in situations on campus Assist in security efforts for special events which can include some weekends and nights Monitors security camera for the campus Qualifications Must have a minimum of five years of experience in law enforcement, military, private security, or related profession The ideal candidate must have experience in a school setting, preferably prior law enforcement, corrections, military, school security and/or a combination thereof Possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Desire to assist in maintaining and enhancing cooperative relationships in a school environment and the community Must possess a valid security officer registration card with the state of Connecticut Must have or willing to obtain a Connecticut State Permit to Carry Pistol or revolver with Class 1 endorsement Shift of 7:30 to 3:15 Monday through Thursday and 7:30 to 12:00 on Fridays when school is in session Greenwich Academy
