We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Actuary, Financial Planning and Analysis, to join our Institutional Division team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE.

  • This role can be on-site or hybrid, where we believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.

As a Senior Actuary, you will play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by driving insights to support business decisions through financial analysis of Plan and Actual. You will join a team of 5 in the Institutional FP&A and Business Insights team and will partner closely with divisional stakeholders and enterprise teams.

How you’ll help move us forward :

  • Update and execute plan modeling for Institutional Products across various economic and business scenarios.
  • Analyze results and key metrics for accuracy and reasonableness, and dig into models, data, and assumptions to discover fixes or explanations for unreasonable results.
  • Identify efficiencies and modernization opportunities in existing processes and lead implementation efforts.
  • Support the creation of financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders. Drive storytelling of the materials and ensure communication is appropriate for the target audience.
  • Partner and communicate effectively with internal teams, business stakeholders, and enterprise teams.
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of Plan vs Actual results supporting quarterly reporting, planning, and forecasting.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Institutional product suite, including new product development, to identify income drivers and product risks.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reports to support management and stakeholder decision-making.

The experience you bring :

  • FSA designation in the Society of Actuaries.
  • 6+ years of actuarial experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high degrees of ambiguity and change.
  • Advanced experience in Excel with VBA coding proficiency.
  • Strong technical skills in a variety of actuarial platforms and / or the ability to quickly learn new technology platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team as well as manage long-term projects.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Experience in analytical, reporting, and modeling tools, including Hyperion Planning (EPBCS), OAC, Essbase / Smart View, Power BI, and Wdesk.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, financial planning, and analysis concepts.
  • Experience working with large data sets (e.g., Alteryx, Snowflake) and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau).
  • Prior experience with annuity products (VA, RILA, FA, FIA, etc.) or institutional products (Stable Value, PRT, HSA, FABN, DCLI).
  • Experienced in multiple programming software (Python, Visual Basic).
  • Solid experience with actuarial modeling software (Prophet, MoSes, Alfa).

Compensation :

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will depend on several factors, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Most employees are also eligible for additional incentive pay.

163,620.00 - $199,980.00
