Job Description

Senior Risk and Compliance Manager, Trust & Safety About This Role Strava is the app for active people. With over 150 million athletes in more than 185 countries, it’s more than tracking workouts—it’s where connection, motivation, and personal bests thrive. No matter your activity, gear, or goals, Strava’s got you covered. Start your journey with Strava today. The Risk and Compliance Manager is a pivotal leadership role in Strava’s Trust and Safety organization, with responsibility for conducting risk assessments, implementing policies, and leading regulatory planning and compliance. You will lead and drive high-impact, global, cross-functional initiatives, including driving the safety-by-design implementation process and identifying and leading the organization on regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will serve as a T&S expert for cross-functional teams such as Product, Operations, Engineering, Partnerships, Community Management, Communications, and Legal to achieve consensus on critical policy issues. We follow a flexible hybrid model that generally translates to around half your time on-site in our San Francisco office—roughly three days per week. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will: Evaluate the risk profile of new products and features. Influence cross-functional stakeholders and company executives regarding proposed product development efforts. Commission research, gather data insights, and communicate the risk landscape and regulatory requirements to the organization. Identify gaps to improve policy and enforcement across our product. Negotiate and find optimal solutions balancing safety and product reach and growth objectives, and work with teams to ensure effective operationalization of global product development, policy, and operational processes. Propose new strategies and policies to improve the Trust & Safety product market fit to the evolving needs as well as our ability to scale our enforcement. Lead the regulatory compliance efforts in collaboration with the Legal team, and define and execute on the implementation of those requirements, including on transparency reporting. Data investigation and problem solving: Work with Data Analytics, Legal and T&S Operations to identify issues and data anomalies, investigate and balance tradeoffs, and make recommendations or decisions to resolve. We’re excited about you because you have: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 6+ years of experience in government, data analytics, risk, or drafting or enforcing policy for an online platform or engagement with public policy issues in technology, government, law or online. 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust & Safety, or technology environment. Experience working with global teams and communicating with stakeholders cross-functionally and experience engaging in and discussing sensitive or controversial areas. Exceptional written, presentation, and verbal communication skills. Compensation Overview At Strava, we know our employees are the most important ingredient to our success, and our compensation and total rewards programs reflect that. We take a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on the department and your location. Salary ranges are categorized into one of three tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. We will determine the candidate’s starting pay based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. We may modify these ranges in the future. For more information, please contact your talent partner. Compensation: $160,000-$180,000. The base salary posted is within the compensation range for this role. This range reflects base pay only and does not include equity or benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
